Special thanks to Lisa Cruanas of Laurglen Labradors for entrusting me
with this truly wonderful boy. He is the epitome of what a Labrador should be, a
sweet gentle soul, an incredibly intelligent obedience dog and a boy who has not only
touched our hearts, but has made his home there.
Sway is a stunningly beautiful boy, but more importantly to us, he is our best friend.

Sway's Story
I was once told by a good friend of mine that there are once in a lifetime dogs,
that you would search your whole life to well, find another such dog.
This is the story of Sway. Our journey with Sway started long before I ever saw him,
held him and smelled his sweet puppy breath. But that is neither here nor there.
The memories of him as a young puppy will stay with us forever. Sway was amazing,
incredible actually, right from the start. I knew, after training many dogs, that he was
special. From his quick acceptance to being in a crate, yes fifteen minutes is not
an exaggeration, to his learning to sit by mimicking Jackson who was sitting patiently
for a treat.
Every moment with this dog has been special, memorable and even life changing. I was extremely
fortunate as Sway was allowed to come to my office everyday when he was a puppy. He spent
the first 3 months with me in a crate beside my desk, I must admit that there were
many times that he did in fact sleep underneath my desk. He was the joy of my co-workers who
would stop by to pet him, talk to him and of course take him on walks down Main Street. Yes,
Sway was leashed trained in my office by the age of 9 weeks. It took me less than
20 minutes walking up and down the hallway with the familiar catch phrase "Let's Go Walkin".
To this day people all up and down Main Street stop and ask me "How's Sway?" I still
bring Sway into the office sometimes for a visit and of course he delights everyone with his
wiggle and his wag. He truly makes you smile, often times laugh and in general makes your day
just seem a little brighter.
Mike and I were talking the other night as we often do about how much we truly enjoy this gentle
giant of a dog. We both think that he is beautiful, stunning even, but of course what parent doesn't
think their children are magnificent? What stuck in my mind were these words said by Mike "People
look at Sway and see a pretty dog, but what they don't see and cannot see because they don't
spend time with him everyday is how truly remarkable he is. I wish they could spend a day
with him and then they could see what it is that we see and experience." It is his temperament,
his complete devotion, his way of asking if he could put his paws in our lap so you can hold his head
while he looks at you with such wonder in his eyes.
We both laugh at the fact that when I tell
people that I sometimes leave Sway in our spare bedroom, which is where all the dog biscuits, dog
food and every other kind of dog treat is kept, we are looked at like we are two biscuits shy of the tin.
Sway doesn't get into things or make mischief, he never has. Why you may ask?
Because we didn't tell him it was ok.
There are so many sweet and special story's I could share with you about this boy, but I will
end this by saying that Sway is still young and his story is far from over,
in fact it's just beginning!
